What we teach:

The state of Minnesota requires at least 6 hours of behind the wheel training for students under 18 years of age. More lessons can be scheduled, if needed. Lessons are not allowed to be more than two hours long. We teach “one-on-one “ lessons. One student, one instructor!

                             LESSON OVERVIEW:

Lesson #1
-We explain the instrument panel, pedals, mirror and seat adjustments, and other equipment that is basic to the safe operation of a motor vehicle.

-We introduce the student to parallel, 90-degree back-in, and hill parking.

-We practice stopping and starting smoothly.

-We practice using signals and performing proper turning techniques, lane placement, lane changes, stops, traffic lights, intersections, etc.

-We practice observation skills, and consideration of pedestrians and other drivers.

Lesson #2
-We practice safe merging onto and exiting freeways, and high speed lane changes.

-We focus on keeping safe following distances.

-Downtown driving and/or busy street driving.

-Transitioning between one-way and two-way streets.

-Navigating roundabouts properly.

Lesson #3
-More parallel, 90-degree back-in, hill, and curb parking practice.

-Review of road test procedures.

-Provide the student with his/her White Card (required for 16 and 17 year old teens to take their road test). This proves they have completed the 6 hours of instruction required to take their road test.

Our instructors are very patient and are certified by the state of Minnesota. We are committed to working as a TEAM with each child's parents to help them achieve their license. PARENTS: PLEASE PRACTICE WITH YOUR CHILD IN A MANNER THAT IS CONSISTENT WITH MINNESOTA STATE LAW, CONTINUOUSLY REINFORCING WHAT YOUR CHILD IS LEARNING FROM THEIR DRIVING INSTRUCTOR. Do not hesitate to talk to your instructor about your child's progress or how they should be practicing.

Thank you for choosing Ken's Driving!
