SCHEDULING TEEN LESSONS

PRACTICE FIRST! We recommend that you drive for several hours with your parent/guardian before your first lesson, even if it is only practicing in a parking lot. This will allow you to become familiar with the basics of controlling a car and will allow your lessons with Ken's Driving to be much more worthwhile. Teen lessons should be spaced several weeks apart, if possible, keeping in mind that you must hold your permit for a minimum of SIX months before you can take your road test. That will give you a chance to practice what you learned from your instructor and improve your proficiency. Let us know if that approach is not practical for you and we will do our best to accommodate you.

SCHEDULE YOUR ROAD TEST! Teens must hold their instruction permit for at least six months before they can take a road test. Road testing sites are very busy, so we recommend that you begin the process of scheduling your road test at the FIVE MONTH MARK of getting your new instruction permit if you think you will have all of your requirements met and will possess the necessary confidence. You may schedule your road test by calling the DVS or visiting their website. Most exam stations in Minnesota are currently experiencing very long wait times. If you are forced to schedule your road test several months out, you may check the DVS website frequently to see if an earlier test date is available. You will not lose your slot unless you choose to accept an earlier date/time. It is a good idea to schedule your final lesson with Ken's Driving near the date of your road test.

NOTE: We might not be able to accommodate you for lessons if your road test is scheduled too soon! We are typically booked about 6 weeks in advance for lessons. If your road test is within the next few weeks, it never hurts to contact us to see if we happen to have an open lesson slot for you, but we cannot guarantee it. If not, you might consider rescheduling your road test.

SCHEDULE YOUR LESSONS! How to schedule lessons at Ken's Driving:

1) Complete the form below. Please be as thorough and accurate as possible. The more information you provide, the more quickly and efficiently we will be able to schedule lessons for you. We may be very busy, but we promise to do our best to help you in as timely a fashion as possible.

2) Carefully consider the DAYS of the week and TIMES of the day you are available for lessons. We will strive to accommodate your work/school schedule, but please remember that there is an extra fee for lessons that fall outside of our normal business hours or fall outside of the area we typically service (north metro). The more flexible you are, the easier it will be to schedule lessons for you!

3) Our office will create a tentative lesson schedule based on your availability and email it to you. Carefully review the schedule and respond as quickly as possible to confirm if it works for you. Let us know immediately if any changes must be made. Please keep in mind that it will be more difficult to change a lesson as we approach each date. As your lessons progress, let us know if you want to add additional lessons.

LET'S DRIVE! Your instructor will typically have several lessons each day, so please be ready to go when they arrive. Please have your payment ready for that lesson (unless you prepaid) and present your instruction permit. The instructor will complete a short form, then your off on your lesson adventure! Feel free to ask questions and engage with your instructor. We want you to have a fun and stress free experience, while learning how to be a SAFE driver!



CANCELLATION POLICY: Due to demand for driving lessons, our schedule is very tight. PLEASE BE COURTEOUS AND GIVE US ADEQUATE NOTICE IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL YOUR LESSON. YOU MAY BE CHARGED A $40 FEE FOR A "NO SHOW", OR FOR CANCELLATIONS THAT OCCUR WITHIN 24 HOURS OF YOUR SCHEDULED LESSON TIME.
